EU-India Network on Sustainability (EINS) - The Key to becoming a Global Player
The success of many industries worldwide is linked to globalisation. Automotive suppliers from India will have to face this challenge. The global automotive industry is characterised by a trend towards concentration. One key issue for manufacturers is increasing co-operation with suppliers. However, this increases the role of suppliers to take more responsibility for the final product, not only in terms of quality, but also managing the environmental and social impacts arising out of their products and processes.
Sustainability Management is commonly understood as the systematic, ongoing management and optimization of the economic, environmental and social dimensions and impacts of business, over the long term. Increasingly, sustainability management is becoming a crucial requirement for suppliers to remain competitive.

"Renault's strategy vis-`-vis its suppliers is founded on long-term relationships, ... , and the institution of a common language and common working methods." (Renault Sustainable Development Report 2001).
